In Pursuit of Excellence
I believe the pursuit of musical and artistic excellence at the highest level will lead to prominence and prosperity for a chorus. Singing high quality choral literature with the best choral sound must be a high priority. We should aim to be nothing lest than our very best in all aspects of our performances, with high musical and production values. Audiences will come once or twice to see a chorus who sells “novelty acts.” They will come back more often when they are touched by our musical excellence and sensitivity. Make them smile, laugh, cry, and remember each concert. When we create a truly beautiful and artistic work of art with our singing, the experience can transcend the musical aesthetic and move the soul. My Field of Dreams philosophy is “if you build it… they will come.”
